Today we are going to examine a dynamic topic which is”OBEDIENCE AS A VIRTUE”
TEXT:1Pet1:2
1 Peter 1:2
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
What’s obedience?
Obedience is the practical acceptance of the commandment and the will of God!
Obedience is an act! I mean an act of yielding to God’s leading By following his ways!
In other words obedience is a virtue whereas is a vice!
Apostle Paul asserted in Romans6vs16.
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
It’s important to know that to be obedient is to be in agreement with God, to be in agreement with God is to be in the position of the power of Christ. In others words; obedience is a virtue why disobedience is vice.
As we patiently endure and fast through this season is a sign of Obedient to the leading of God.
Kingdom advancement prayer is a practical phenomenon of obedient to God’s leading which is a validity of obedience to God.
In other words disobedience is majorly caused by rebellion and distrust.
God expects obedience (Deuteronomy 11:26-28 ).
To choose Christ is to choose obedience (John 14:15,21 ).
To become disobedient is to sin or rebel against God (I Samuel 15:22,23).
Romans 16:26
But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience
GOD REWARDS OBEDIENCE!
Over and over again we read in the bible that God blesses and reward obedience! Genesis 22:18
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
God emphatically explain to us that we are going to be blessed if and only if we obey His voice which is an act of obedience.
HOW TO CORRECT THE SIN OF DISOBEDIENCE
Thank God for areas of disobedience you may have discovered.
Once they are identified, they can be removed. This will result in a new joy and greater faith. “And we know that in all things work for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28 ). ”
Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20 ). “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (I Thessalonians 5:18
Confess the disobedience as a sin. Ask God for forgiveness and claim His promise of complete pardon. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9).
If your act of disobedience involves others who are in authority over you, you must rectify the situation with them. The Bible teaches us that we can and should live at peace with ourselves and others.
Disobedience to God and those in authority over you can block the joy, blessings and inner peace which God desires for you.
Benefits of obedience!
Who could ask for anything clearer or more straightforward than James’ blessed words concerning obedience? They are crystal-clear! “What does it profit, my , if someone says heaàa has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? … Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works [obedience], is dead. … Even the demons believe … But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is useless ? … For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:14-26.
CONCLUSION
Everything that is needed in order to be obedient can be found and obtained in Christ Jesus, so we are without excuse. Let us therefore do our utmost to be obedient in everything! ( 2 Corinthians 10:5-6;
Corinthians 2:9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.
God gives grace, but for what purpose? Precisely for this one reason: obedience! If we imagine anything else, then we are only deceiving ourselves and will come to regret it bitterly one day. Irrespective of what you say or do, irrespective of what stage you are at, know this: the only thing that counts is obedience to the faith.
SHALOM!
REMAIN BLESSED
