Understanding The Wonders Of Prayer And Fasting Lifestyle

Prayer is a dialogue and not a monologue (a dialogue between humanity and divinity). As we’ve all known from our English class that a communication process is incomplete without feedback. In the same vein, a prayer process is incomplete without an answer. There is no unanswered prayer in the scripture.

Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. [18] And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit (James.5:17-18)

What is fasting?

Fasting implies fastening your body to edify your spirit. Both prayer and fasting are God’s commandments (Mathew.6:6/17).

Pray without ceasing (1Thes.5:17)

Why must I engage in prayer and fasting as a lifestyle?

a). Because prayer and fasting are the proven platforms for spiritual exercise and only charged people can change their world (only charged people can become change agents).

For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come (1Timothy.4:8)

b). Because a lifestyle of prayer and fasting is the surest way to keep our fire burning on the altar.

And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it, and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. [13] The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it

shall never go out. (Leviticus.6:12-13)

c). Because the house of God is the house of prayer and the house of prayer is YOU. The scripture says, Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves (Luke.19:46). We are God’s building (1 Cor.3:9). In addition, a praying church is a growing church and a growing church is a praying church. Prayer doesn’t only change things but also changes people (Luke.9:29). There are no growing ministries, blogs, or businesses but there are growing ministers, bloggers and s, and businessmen respectively. In case you’re a minister reading this, the secret of church growth is kingdom-oriented prayers (Mathew.6:9).

d). Because the platform of prayer and fasting is the platform for supernatural empowerment. Supernatural empowerment is what causes stars to rise.

And in the synagogue, there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, [36] And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. [37] And his fame of him went out into every place of the country roundabout. (Luke.4:33, 36-37)

Before Jesus went to the wilderness to fast for forty days and nights, He had no identity, (He used to be known as Jesus “the son of the carpenter”). But when He returned from the wilderness, He returned with a new identity, power, and authority. Demons cried out His name and left their victims. People began to exclaim, what manner of man is this? We’ve seen strange things today! Even the wind obeyed Him! We’ve never seen it in this fashion! (Mathew.8:27, Luke.5:26). He was announced. In the same way, God will announce you to the world around you no matter your background.

If supernatural prosperity is your immediate desire, dive into giving but if power over all powers of darkness is your immediate desire, dive into prayer and fasting.

e). Because, engaging in a prayer and fasting lifestyle causes all mountains to give way. Mountains represent problems, afflictions, and barriers. Understand this, certain mountains won’t bow out until you enter or dive into prayer and fasting.

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible unto you. [21] Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting (Mathew.17:20-21)

f). Because the platform of prayer and fasting lifestyle is the cheapest way to obtain freedom from all satanic oppressions.

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to lose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? (Isaiah.58:6)

g). Because prayer and fasting lifestyle enhances our speed in life. It facilitates light which in turn propels speedy journeys in every sphere of life.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).

Final thoughts

• Prayer is a conversation between humanity and divinity – there must be feedback.
• 70% of our prayers are answered by what God shows us.
• What God shows us makes us a show.
• Because prayer and fasting are platforms for spiritual exercise, you must engage in them as a lifestyle.
• if you’re not engaging in prayer and fasting as a lifestyle, the fire of revival would die in you.
• Because you’re God’s building and the house of God is a house of prayer. Anchored on this reason, engage perpetually.
• When you engage as a lifestyle, God will empower you which causes your star to rise.
• You need to engage either in the chosen fast or inspired one because mountains remain at the spot until you dive into prayer and fasting.
• Darkness, frustration, confusion, and stagnation become the order of the day except you buy into the idea of prayer and fasting as a lifestyle.
