Practical Faith That Works

practical faith that works

To become a giant is to follow the steps of a giant. You cannot have the faith of Thomas and expect the blessings of Abraham (If you are children of Abraham you will do the works of Abraham).

What is faith?

  • Faith is not waiting; faith is a doing or moving force.
  • Faith is putting God’s word to work.
  • Faith is not cheap talk, but hard work.
  • Faith is not mystical; faith is practical. It’s acting in line with what you believe.
  • Faith is believing the invincible and daring the impossible.
  • Faith is the substance of things not seen and evidence of things hoped for (Hebrews.11:1).

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves (James.1:22; NKJV).

What Makes Faith Works?

To be spiritual simply means to be scriptural. Spirituality is living according to the dictates of the scripture. Obedience to scriptural injunctions is the gateway fulfillment. Faith without work is dead; faith is impotent without obedience. Obedience is a sign of trust. The fact you’re obeying is a sign that you believe. “Demonstration” is the keyword here. Show your love for God by obeying His commandments.

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock (Mathew.7:24-25).

Nothing mystical in serving God; there is simplicity in Christ that makes life easier. The Bible is a covenants book. The word “testament” is a Greek word that simply means “covenant.” The first and second testaments mean the first and second covenants. So, we have the book of covenants (both first and second covenants are applicable, Jesus did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill It). All you need to do is to play your part of the deal and let God play His part. The scripture cannot be broken. It works!

What the devil does is to make the word seem too simple to believe. It might look too simple, but that’s your way out of struggle. Whatever He tells you to do, do it – even when it looks foolish (John.2:7).

But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ (2.Cor.11:3).

(See Deuteronomy.28:1-3 & James.1:25)

Biblical Examples of Men Who Put Faith To Work

(1). Abraham – The secret behind Abraham’s generational blessings is prompt obedience. Every time God told him to do something he acted immediately. When God told him to circumcise all males in his generation, he responded promptly; when God told him to get out of his kindred and fling to an unknown place, he started the journey early in the morning; when God told him to offer Isaac (his only long-awaited son) as a sacrifice he obeyed. As a result, God made him a symbol of generational blessings. The blessings we are enjoying today are the blessings of Abraham of which we are connected through Jesus Christ (Galatians.3:14).

(2). Jesus – Jesus is our perfect example. He submitted to the will of His father, following His instructions, knowing when to walk secretly or openly. As a result of obedience, he was enthroned with a name that’s above all names in heaven, in the earth, and under the earth (Philippians.2:5-10). Any negative and unwanted thing that has a name is compelled to bow to the name of Jesus. Thank of it: sickness is a name; poverty is a name; failure is a name; marital siege is a name; stagnation is a name; oppression is a name. They must all bow to the power and authority in the name of Jesus when you use it – don’t just call the name, use it. However, you cannot be committed today and not be decorated tomorrow.

(3). The 3 Hebrew boys – Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego would rather die than to bow to the golden image of the king. They saw their God worth dying for than to bow to strange God. And God saw this dogged determination in them, His heartbeat was saying “I must rescue my children today.” They were not pastors, God called them His servants. You don’t have to become a pastor to obey God. Just have a heart for God irrespective of your calling and God will deliver you.

(4). Daniel – Daniel would rather die than to defy himself with a portion of the king’s meat (Daniel.1:8). He prayed three times a day despite the ganged up against him. As result, he was relevant in six kingdoms. Every divine-content-person is all-time relevant. You are the solution that the world needs. A divine content individual is fit anywhere. We carry a universal gospel, it works the same way everywhere.

(5). Joseph – By choice, Joseph reigned. Because he knew where he was going, he wouldn’t allow his destiny to be trashed in Potiphar’s house, he knew that Potiphar’s house was only a passage; he had seen himself self on the throne. You can’t have where you are going and not package yourself dangerously to get there. Every scriptural commandment is for your profiting. You are not helping God; you are helping yourself. It’s your choice that determines your lot in life. Choose to be different. Your journey to greatness begins with your obedience to the fear of the Lord.

Final Thoughts

  • Faith is acting in line with what you believe from the word of God.
  • Your faith is fake without proof because faith is the evidence of things not seen. Without full proof, your faith is questionable.
  • Faith can be handled like a stick and be used to quench all arrows of the devil. Take (faith is taking) the shield of faith…
  • Faith is not mystical, but practical; faith with disobedience is dead.
  • Biblical examples of men that put faith into work are Abraham, Jesus, Joseph, Daniel, the three Hebrews boys, and many more. I’m interested in knowing more biblical examples of men and women who put faith into practice; you can share your ideas in the comments section.

    1. ๐Ÿ™‚Yes, my sister. Faith is action. The woman with the issue of blood took action and got her healing. Faith is also violent. Roof tearing faith will always secure His attention. Thanks for reading and commenting. God bless you๐Ÿ™

  1. When God nudges, take heed and act. He’s been telling me the same thing for the past year and it has taken me far too long to throw all my energy into it.

Thank you for reminding of this important message.
