Leadership Is Not Leading People

Leadership Is Not Leading People

There are always many workers than leaders because leadership is expensive. Leadership is taking the lead and not leading people (as erroneously perceived). It’s a sacrifice. To become a leader, you must be stretched and go extra miles to accomplish a specific task. Whether you’re black or white, yellow or brown; a man or woman, short or tall, if you could pay the price, the world would begin to celebrate you.

Leadership isn’t ruling people but serving people. it can’t be imposed but conferred. Your quality input and excellence in your output in a specific field makes people refer to you as their leader. People used to think that politicians are the only leaders we have while this isn’t true, there are also leaders in every field. If some politicians receive some hand shakes from Bill Gate, it would go into their CV’S.

We serve our way to the top. David was in service when he was called to the throne. Joseph served his way to the top. Jesus served his way up to decoration. Be empowered by the spirit of servant hood.

Leadership is setting the pace, finding the path and blazing the trail. It’s setting examples for others to follow. Show me a man who is diligent in his business, you have find he who is the leader. Life is business! Leaders are those who go to work and actually work (it demands high level discipline). They are managers of self, time, energy and resources (If the TV box is stealing your time, it’s stealing your destiny. Go to hell! Say to that TV box)

When God created Adam, He gave him a managerial role to play (Gen.2:15). The require skill is management skill, you need to be trained for it. You need quality information about financial, human and material resources. Understanding equals outstanding anywhere, anyday, anytime. Leaders are thinkers. Leadership demands high level of intellectual cost. People who approach a subject matter with a common sense end up with a common result and that is why they are called common men (uncommon approach results into uncommon results). You need to approach life with a special knowledge by doing thorough findings on how it actually works. Then by applying the acquired knowledge . Wisdom is applied knowledge. Jesus the wisdom itself says,

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house upon a rock: [25] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock (Mat.7:24-25)

Leadership is expensive and that is why we have few leaders but many workers. We will always have plenty workers than leaders across generations. It demands high level 4d’s – decision, determination, dedication and discipline – to emerge as a leader. …….but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits ( Daniel 11:32). Exploits is expensive.

A comfort zone is a danger zone. There are no record breakers in their comfort zones. Breaking records require stretching out. Nothing becomes extraordinary on its own, it’s our extraordinary efforts that make it so. If everyone reading this would work at it, imagine how many leaders we would be having. A leader is not the one who is leading people but the one who is taking the lead in every field of life.

[12] Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; [13] And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed (Hebrews 12:12 -13).

  2. Thank you for making us realize that the heart of true leadership is service. And I guess that is true. When followers see that their leaders serve, they are in a way led to assimilate such good example. Consequently, when it’s time for them to serve, they will spend the opportunity emulating the true essence of leadership.

May God continually bless you and your family during this pandemic!

  3. In India we believe in Lord Vishnu and he said, “whenever there will be a rise in envy, sin and evil, I will appear in a form to get rid of that”.

I think it’s true and even today whenever there is something like that, there are leaders who stand up and start a revolution to change the whole world around them.

    Great post, Chris!
