It is not enough to engage in spiritual matters without diligence. Christianity is not a passive religion. Passivity has deprived many believers of their inheritance in Christ. God wants us to seek Him diligently, not lackadaisically (lazily). It is not good enough to treat spiritual matters with levity.
But without faith, it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out]. Hebrews 11:6
It takes a serious approach to earn a glorious result; those who serve God casually end as casualties – Oyedepo
Have A Reward Mentality In Spiritual Engagement
You are not serving God for anything; you are serving Him for something. God is a reward for those who diligently and crazily seek Him. He rewards us according to our work (serving God is a work), and God does not reward groups; He rewards individuals.
And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according to his work shall be. Revelation 22:12
Lazy people do not go far in life; you have to do nothing to be poor; just sleep and wake up every day, and you’ll court plenty of poverty. Hard work is one of the buttons you should press to be successful in life. Read the biographies of successful people, and you’ll see that they all have some things in common, and one of those things is hard work.
Make Your Faith Work By Carrying Spiritual Responsibilities
Faith is not a cheap talk; it is hard work (and if you think you were called into ministry as an escape from hard work, you are mistaken). The ministry is not a means of livelihood; it’s working hard to fulfill the mandate of redemption, which is not an easy task.
Take responsibility if you do not want to die as a liability. Everybody is responsible for the outcome of their lives. Don’t blame God; blame yourself. Don’t question God; question yourself. We are responsible for the outcome of our lives.
There is always something to do to get to where you want to be in life, but you need to find out from scripture what the requirements are to get your desired outcome. Faith is not waiting on the Lord; you can wait until Jesus comes and nothing will happen. Faith is a moving or doing force; it’s putting God’s word to work or acting in line with what you believe. You need to understand how to provoke heaven to step into your affairs.
Paul and Silas did not wait for God to come and deliver them from the prison; they were engaging in prayers, praise, and worship, and that engagement provoked the release of divine presence. (See Acts 16:20-23.) Even in a seemingly hopeless situation, they were still praising God. The last thing that many believers will do today is to praise God when they are confronted with life’s challenges. Praising God in the midst of a crisis is a sign of strong faith.
The Spiritual Problem Facing Believers Today
The problem that most believers have today is that when we are believing God for something, we say to ourselves that we are waiting on the Lord so that the miracle will just fall on our laps as if God were a father Christmas. It was the hands of Moses and God that delivered the Israelites out of Egypt; God needs you to lift your hands that are hanging down, and then He will support you and deliver you out of your trouble.
Don’t wait and fold your hands, waiting for a day that your miracle will be released; you may wait forever. A miracle that leaves you with no responsibility is questionable. It may be traditional magic. Miracles must be tested with the acid test of the word of God. Remember how Aaron’s rod turned into a serpent, and likewise the magicians’ rods? But God was able to prove His supremacy when the serpent of Aaron swallowed all the serpents of the magicians.
According to Zig Ziglar, just any dummy can succeed if he cares to know (and do) what it takes.
Spiritual Race Does Not Belong To The Swift
You can be skilled, smart, and intelligent and still not be successful. Success in life is not about doing what you feel or like; it’s about doing what it takes with respect to the word of God. Most people know what it takes, and agree to it with their heads, but never do it.
Information is different from conversion. You can hear a sermon that says that giving is the channel to supernatural blessings and agree with your head, but still, be stingy—not just to God but also to yourself. Some people have not bought a pair of clothes for themselves this year, and they are working and earning. Why? Because they are stingy with themselves. Such people, when they hear the message of prosperity, only have information, which does not lead to conversion. It’s the conversion that brings about the results.
Friend, be diligent in spiritual matters because that is the key to your triumphant living.
