We were given an assignment in our church’s Sunday school on Sunday. The questions go as these: (1). Identify five tides that needs to be turned right urgently in our society? (2). Make suggestion on what to be done to turn them right?
We’ve just treated on the topic “Turning the Tides” No doubt, it was an interesting topic. I love my answers, I strongly believe it was divinely revealed, thanks to the Holy Ghost. And, I’m convinced that my answers are worth sharing.
Question: Identify 5 tides that need to be turned right urgently in our society.
Answer:
1). Corruption
2). Bribery
3). Stealing
4). Cyber crime
5). Insurgency
Question: Make suggestions on what to be done to turn them right.
a). New birth (choice, decision, determination) – Life is an issue of choice and not chance. New birth for instance, it’s a free gift but yet the convert must receive, accept and confess that Jesus Christ is his lord and saviour. Sin prevails with the agreement of the sinner. The aces are in everyone’s hands. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold all things are become new (2.Cor.5:17).
b). Plead the blood of Jesus – There is power in that name. Whenever the negative habit tries to rear its ugly head in your thoughts tell it to keep quite, say something like, “by the blood of Jesus I command you to disappear.” It will hear. Stealing is a name, corruption, bribery, smoking and other vices are names – sickness, poverty, frustration, – are all names and whatever has a name is compelled to surrender to the name of Jesus. That in he name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth (Phl.2:11).
c). Abide in Christ by obeying his commandments – There are some habits that will not go until the victim enter into fast. New year resolution, will power and character won’t work. Obedience to scriptural commandments is the authentic way to turn the tides of bad to good.
d). Holy Communion – This represents the flesh and blood of Jesus. This has the capacity to flush out every negative habit from our systems. …Jesus took the bread, and blessed it, and break it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them, Saying drink ye all of it. For this is my blood for the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sin (Mat.26:26-28)
e). Prayer of the Saints – Unselfish prayer that are not self-centered in nature can turn the most pervasive bad/negative tides to good/positive respectively. Prayer for the sinners and nations are the surest means of turning tides (Mat.6:9/33).
f). Soul winning – If the churches of nowadays can be practical churches by hunting after souls coupled with prayer on the behalf of the lost, most of the negative tides of drinking, occultism, and smoking could have been turned positive (Mat.6:6/9, Jn.15:16).
