Marriage is an institution, a state of being married or the union of two people, usually to the exclusion of all others. Foundation is the starting point of anything that demand building. For example, if you want build a house, business, relationship, project etc you must build a foundation for it. The stronger the foundation the bigger the building becomes. All through this post we shall be capturing the foundation upon which a successful marriage can be built.
(1) Jesus
If what you desire is a hitch free marriage, then there is a foundation required for it. The foundation that is required for prosperous marriage is the same foundation that is required for prosperous business, financial and economic future. The foundation is Jesus. Those who do not know Jesus before they get married will do extra job to be saved.
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ (1. Cor.3:11)”
It’s a common foundation for any building whether marriage, business or career. Jesus is the common factor for every future – other foundation can no man laid no matter what he is trying to build on it. “If the foundation be destroyed, what can the righteous do (Psalm 11:3).” Jesus is the only acceptable, authentic and reliable foundation – if you head for a trouble home, you will know that there is hell on earth. To enjoy a peaceful family life for a great tomorrow you need to build that aspiration or vision on the only authentic, reliable and approved foundation which is Jesus Christ.
(2) Word
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John.1:1-3).”
Understand this, anything you are building on earth that must stand must be built on the word. God’s word does not undergo civilization. It is the same yesterday, today and forever. “For I am the lord I changed not ( Malachi.3:6).” Time and season; age and civilization cannot affect it. God’s word is the same forever as God Himself.
The reason why we have so much of failure today is that we have left the foundation, we are building on something else. The foundation to everything that will be enviable tomorrow is the word of God.
The word of God is the sustaining force to anything that will stand – every future that will stand must takes its bearing from the word of God. When you shift from that, you are building what will never stand. Anyone that wants to get to the God must go through His word which is Jesus.“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Mathew.24:35).”
(3) God’s Plan
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not evil, to give you an expected end (Jer.29:11).”
In God’s great design for your tomorrow He didn’t put evil at any corner. When God designed your future, He made it evil free so that you can be free from worries today and settle down to locate the best way to build.
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (1.Cor.2:9).”
(4). Revelation
God is saying what He has prepared for you no man has ever seen it and the only way to get that beautiful future is to attend to revelation which will enable you to get your step into it.
“But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God (1. Cor.2:10).”
If you must see those beautiful, colourful things that have been prepared for you, you must cooperate with the Holy Spirit inside you to begin to bring the deep things of God by revelation so that you can take possession of it. It takes revelation to have possession. “For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give It and to thy seed for ever (Gen.13:14 ).”
Beautiful and colourful is your tomorrow but until you can see it you cannot realize it. The best way to build our future is to seek revelation and pursue it, what ever God has revealed, He has delivered. Revelation is the secret of possession. This is your brightest hour to see the brightest you can see to earn the brightness of your future. Do you want a great future? Go after strong revelations and you will earn an enviable future.
God has no trouble in His plan for your future but if you are ignorant, the devil will ever put trouble than you will ever bargain for. It’s possible to have a hitch free future, ever smiling family, children who don’t cry and have food to eat no matter how costly it becomes in town but the strength of the foundation which you are building determines the height you can go. Every skyscraper you see they don’t have the same foundation as bungalow.
This is your best hour – if you play with this hour of your life you will have plenty of regret tomorrow. This is your finest opportunity to go full length after God. Whatever that has been prepared for you can be revealed to you and he that seeketh findeth. So, you must seek the revelation of the things that have been prepared for you and when you have seen it, God has no choice but to deliver it.
It’s the light in your soul that will determine the brightness of tomorrow. What will hold your tomorrow is what you have discovered by yourself today. Let’s undertake discoveries adventures and build a great tomorrow consciously. It works.
(5) Knowledge
Every man status is determined by grace and grace can be multiplied. If grace determined status, it means grace will multiply status and knowledge multiply grace. The more knowledge you have, the more grace you have and the higher status you approach.
“But by the grace God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me (1. Cor.15:10).”
“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied (2.peter.1:2).”
Listen: your destiny is not static but dynamic and It’s determined by you. How much revelation you acquired; determines how much height you attain. Anything you don’t know you will pay for it. You don’t know does not gives you the freedom. Ignorance is not an excuse in law.
Knowledge is what makes king. Wherever knowledge reigns mountain trembles. Grace determines size, knowledge determines grace and knowledge determines size. You are rated by your word level in the sight of God. “Then said the LORD unto me, thou hast well see: for I will hasten my word to perform it (Jeremiah.1:12).”
Revelation should be your goal to lay a strong foundation for your marriage. God watches over His word to perform it.
(6) Humility
There are some young men that no women qualify to be their wives while there are some young ladies that no men qualify to be their husbands. God will always resist the proud but He gives more grace to the humble.
You only know what it’s now, you can’t tell what that becomes tomorrow.
Growing up together is what makes a family. Many people marital destiny have been caged because of pride. Man:”can I marry you?” Woman: “Oh, you want to marry me?” Number one: “do you have a second degree?” Number two: how much is your income per month sir?” Man:N30000 Woman:30000? Woman: “how much is the savings in your account?” Beware of pride. The one the lord brought to Abraham servant became Isaac’s wife, there were no interrogations.
(7) Seek and Find
“Whosever findeth a wife, findeth a good thing (Proverb.18:22).” Your quest for marital partner is all about finding, not sleeping neither day dreaming but practical finding (your mental alertness is required). How do you know that you have found a wife? You know that you have found a wife when the two of you are agreeable (Amos.3:3)
Final Thoughts
Friend, a blissful marriage is not impossible to achieve. In this post, I have been able to define the meaning of marriage and foundation. Furthermore, I have been able to explain the only genuine solid foundation that your marriage can be built upon in order to be successful and i have also listed and explain 7 foundations of a sustainable marriage which are:

The capital truth is that, sustainable marriage requires God’s wisdom to achieve. A man supposes to pray for his wife because the woman can easily be deceived and manipulated by the devil.
My sentiment is not based on my gender, but everyone will agree with me that it was the woman that the devil deceived in the garden that later involved her husband. And lastly marriage is not a competition. Both parties must learn how to live together as partners without competing with each other.
