The Full Guide On How To Become Successful In Life

Here comes a new year that offers another great opportunity to make things right and become successful irrespective of past failures.

I understand that the year 2022 did not work well for some people as expected. These set of people had struggled to get things done, they probably did all they know how to do but nothing worked while some sets of people have had good reports to show for their efforts. No matter which category you fall into this post is for you and I will show you how to become successful in life. And if you have achieved some success before, you’ll also learn how to sustain it.

We will approach this topic from two perspectives: spiritual and physical.

Spiritual Approach To Be Successful In Life 

To be successful in life you need to first learn the spiritual buttons you need to press for a successful living.

Do I mean that you cannot be successful without going through the spiritual route? No, you can be successful without the following spirituality but your success may come with sorrow.

Some people don’t believe that God exists not to talk of following His principle. Yes, they are rich through the means of hard work or shortcuts but are not blessed. There is a difference between getting rich and being blessed. You can be rich and not be blessed. 

“The blessing of the Lord–it makes [truly] rich, and He adds no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it].” Proverbs 10:22

However, below are the 5 spiritual buttons you should press to be successful in life.

Have A Mentality and Attitude of Success

This is very vital as most people – even the so-called born-again Christians – find it difficult to believe that God wants them to be successful in life. Understand this, success is the will of God and not our ambition. In Genesis 1, God created us as blessings and not as burdens. He commanded us to be blessed and serve as blessings to others. To be blessed also means to be successful.

And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth – Genesis 1:28

Did you know that what you think of yourself is who you become?

Dave and Bimbo were husband and wife. While Dave was pastoring a church, Bimbo was always there to support her husband’s ministry. It happened that all the children that Bimbo had had for Dave were only girls. They already had three girls. Fortunately, Bimbo became pregnant with the fourth child. Both Bimbo and her husband were believing God for a boy. Bimbo had been confessing everywhere that he was a boy even after the doctor had confirmed and told her that she was another girl. At this point, even Dave who was an anointed man of God was in doubt about what looked seemingly impossible. The good news was that when Bimbo delivered she gave birth to a boy. Hallelujah!

“And blessed (happy, to be envied) is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of the things that were spoken to her from thee Lord.” – Luke 1:45

You see, you can’t think failure and arrive at success.

If you would be successful this year, first renew your mind from every negative pattern, and believe that success is for you and that God wants you to be successful (See Jeremiah 29:11/3 John1:2).

Believe is powerful. It dictates the outcome of your life. It’s the most difficult project to complete in life. It is easier to build a skyscraper than to change people’s mindsets. Most people have been used to failure that it has become very difficult for them to believe in success. Remember how the Israelites were used to servitude and blamed Moses for taking them out of Egypt?

The attitude of the Lion makes him the king of the jungle. He is not the fastest or the strongest animal but he possesses a different mentality (To know more about the lion read my previous post on Effective Leadership).

Become Successful By Obeying Biblical Commands

You may work like jerky and eat the bread of sorrow – God forbid. In Ecclesiastes 9:11, we’ve to realize that the race of life does not belong to the swift neither does the battle belong to the strong. God is the lifter and builder of men.

In Luke’s gospel, some professional fishermen had attempted all the tips and tricks they knew about the fishing profession throughout the night but had nothing to show for their efforts. But when allowed Jesus to come into their boat, heard His words, and followed His instructions, they had a net-breaking and boat-sinking harvest of fish.

You too had toiled throughout last year and caught nothing. It’s time to involve Jesus. Allow Him to come into the boat of your life and let Him teach His words and directs you where to cast your net. You’ve been casting it to the wrong side all the while, let Him show you the right way to cast your net for a catch. Peter’s one-man business became a partnership business simply by obeying an instruction.

And Simon (Peter) answered, Master, we toiled all night [exhaustingly] and caught nothing [in our nets]. But on the ground of Your word, I will lower the nets [again].

And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish; and as their nets were [at the point of] breaking, Luke 5:5-6

Become Successful By Fearing God (Exercise Righteousness)

Righteous living is a prerequisite for triumphant living. Biblically, righteousness is the master key to business breakthrough and supernatural wealth. Many businesses are barren as a result of ungodliness. Understand this, righteousness is the foundation of everything that works in the kingdom. Stop cheating on your customers; stop selling fake products. Let your business be built on righteousness; let all other aspects of your life find their roots in righteousness. Remember what made Daniel and Joseph successful in the Bible, righteousness of course. It procures favor and, unleashes fruitfulness, and makes great. What a powerful button you have at your disposal that you can press.

In Psalm 112:1-3,

“PRAISE THE Lord! (Hallelujah!) Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who fears (reveres and worships) the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. [Deut. 10:12.]
His [spiritual] offspring shall be mighty upon earth; the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
Prosperity and welfare are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.“

“The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible].” – Psalm 92:12

Become Successful By Engaging In A Praiseful Lifestyle

Praise is one of the buttons you should press if you want to be successful in life. I am not talking about occasional praise (like festive-period-only praise). I am talking about everyday praise. One of the mysteries of praise is that it leads to increases. Nothing goes down in the hands of praise warriors. Multiplication is a product of appreciation. Never takes God for granted or else you would be grounded. Praise is also the secret behind the success of Jesus’ earthly ministry. Anytime He faced a seemingly hopeless situation He would give thanks and the miraculous would follow (see John 6).

Listen to this: let it be part of your new year’s resolutions and strategies that you’ll not complain this year. Become Successful By Walking In Love With God

Friend, you cannot joke with love this time around if you want to be successful in life. Love simply means to receive the word of God, you believe and obey it (see John 14:21). It is what holds your interest and passionate about. Carry a heart for God this year and be successful. Hates what God hates and loves what love. Loving Him above all else is what guarantees success.

Exploits

Exploits are positive unprecedented happenings in life. They are what eyes have not seen nor ears heard before (see 1 Corinthians 2:9). Every genuine lover of God is a commander of record-breaking and groundbreaking success in every sphere of life.

“And such as violate the covenant he shall pervert and seduce with flatteries, but the people who know their God shall prove themselves strong and shall stand firm and do exploits [for God].” – Daniel 11:32

Stardom

Every genuine lover of God is a public figure. To love God is to turn many to righteousness. In turning many to righteousness your stardom is established. God’s number one interest is the lost souls. He wants them saved. That was why He sent His only Son to die for our sins. When you have a passion for what He loves, you would have the heartbeat of God and it will procure favor over your life. Make this year your year of evangelism by showing others the way to Christ.

“And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.” – Daniel 12:3

Success

According to the Bible, all things (not one or two things) are meant to work together for good for those that love God (see Romans 8:28). I can see lines falling in their pleasant places for you this year. Just demonstrate your love for God by obeying His commands.

Physical Approach To Become Successful In Life

Life is both spiritual and physical. The Spiritual aspect is the most important but that doesn’t mean that the physical aspect is not important.

Become Successful By Applying Wisdom

Wisdom is also one of the buttons you should press to be successful this year. Simply put, wisdom is to know what to do from the Word of God and do it. It’s applied knowledge.

Behind most business and marital failures in life are wisdom problems. Sandra was a businesswoman and she was into the catering business. Her startup capital was 5000 dollars and her monthly profit was 500 dollars. To keep up with the Jones, because her friends lived in a rented apartment for 5000 dollars per month, she also rented an apartment with that same range. The cost of her house rent was higher than what she made per month as a profit and equal to her start-up capital (Tell me why she would not fail). It’s wise to cut your coat according to your size.

At the root of many failed marriages is the wisdom problem. A man spent over 5 years in the university learning about cats and rats but had never read a single book on marriage nor had he attended any seminar on the subject matter.

Love only does not sustain a marriage, you need biblical wisdom to have a successful marital relationship. Understand this, no marriage on earth will work if the husband does not love his wife and the wife does not submit to the husband (see Ephesians 5). This is a divine setting that cannot be broken – not even by God.

Become Successful Through Commitment, Dedication and Hard Work

Commitment, dedication, and hard work are all-time requirements for success. You need personal sacrifice to service your dead or dying vision so that it can live again (you may need to stay awake some nights or wake early some days or forget your launch some days). The secret of success is the extra mile. You need to put extra effort into what you do to make it successful.

The Bible warns strongly about slothfulness it decays the building through the idleness of the hands. Nothing works until somebody is working on it (what you don’t work won’t work). Jesus also shows how much hates idleness in Mathew chapter 20.

Work hard more this year. Hard work will not kill, it will only make things work. Put more quality time, energy, and resources into what you do best this year and you’ll be successful.

Set goals and milestones and be committed to achieving them. Time management is also a key here. Spend quality time on what brings value to your life (never allow worries to worm Into your life as it’s the most unproductive activity on earth, but rather hope and trust God for the best). Cut off your associations/friendship with barren people who have no vision and measure your achievements over time.

Build Capacity Through Self Development

With the current rate at which the world and technology are evolving, it’s obvious that we need to embrace continuous learning to remain relevant in our fields. Many people are out of business because they possess obsolete knowledge.

Identify and study those who are ahead of you in the industry (with proven tracks record of success). Buy their books and apply your discoveries. Build personal libraries and get addicted to learning. You need to become a bookworm to be successful in this era. Many business processes and logic are getting more complex day by day.

Your studies should not be restricted to business alone. You know the area of your life where you want to be successful. Look for relevant materials that address the most pressing need. It could be marriage, health, finances, business, or career. Whichever aspect of your life requires success you’ll always find quality materials that proffer solutions to the issue. Most books are written solve problems. The more you read the more your life becomes easier and the more you become successful. Michael Faraday did not have the kind of education you have today, yet he was an inventor and a preacher by his commitment to self-development.

Final Thoughts

You cannot be successful by wishful thinking, you have to take practical steps with what you’ve learned. Even though spirituality is the foundation of life, physical approaches are also important. Recap, below are the both spiritual and physical steps that have been mentioned in this post.
