We make our marks in life by trusting God in Godly living. God specializes at lifting and building people but our trust in His ability to perform it is a prerequisite
When faith advances into trust, every element of doubt is destroyed. Many of us prefer the blessings of Abraham but posses the faith of Thomas. Life can’t be sweet than the level of our faith.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. [6] But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. [7] For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. [8] A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” – JMS.1:5-8
What is trust?
Trust is a deep-seated conviction – this implies that you’re not daunted by the situations and happenings around you. Instead you’re listening to what the WORD says irrespective of what the WORLD says
BIBLICAL INSTANCES OF TRUST
By trust, Abraham became the father of nations. Immortality swallows up mortality in Abraham as he was dead ready to sacrifice his only long awaited son. He trusted God in his ability to delivers.
“And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together. [7] And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? [8] And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. [9] And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. [10] And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. [11] And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. [12] And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. [13] And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.” – Gen.22:6-13
By trust, the three Hebrew boys were rescued. These boys said O Nebuchadnezzar – no title – we are not careful to answer you in this matter. And God saw this dogged determination in this guys and his heartbeat was as “I must rescue my children today” He delivered!
“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. [17] If it be so , our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. [18] But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” – Dan.3:16-18
WHAT ARE THE PROOFS OF TRUST?
(i). Godliness – Your trust in God ends where your Godly living stops. The fear of God is the capital proof of our trust in God.
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; [16] Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” – 1Pet.1:15-16
Godliness is the key to greatness
“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” – Dan.1:8
“Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.” – Dan.2:46
study the above two scripture very well. Your tomorrow is determined by your Godly living today.
(ii). Obedience – Faith is an element of trust. Trust and faith are inseparable. While faith requires work to works. Faith without work is dead. That is, faith without taking responsibilities is dead.
“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. [18] Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.” – JMS.2:17-18
“But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” – JMS.2:20
Stop waiting, you’ve waited for long. Enough is enough. It’s high time you act. Take practical and demonstrative steps pertaining scriptural injunctions. That’s how faith works! It doesn’t works in theory.
