The ignorance of Wednesday match

Ignorance

On Wednesday’s night, every member of my house – outsiders inclusive – all gathered in the sitting room watching England match. It was England vs Croatia night. The TV box was the center of attraction – I envied the television – all eyes fixed on the thing. Daddy’s legs move when a player shoot. I think he was supporting Croatia for the night.

Ignorant analysis flew from lips to lips. Everybody in the house had become an analyst. Noises, arguments and ignorant laughter filled the atmosphere. Adults and innocent’s children would kill themselves over an issue that brings no Penney to their pockets. Those whom nobody know are watching for the people the world recognized. A man who is coping to handle his family had already coached a team successfully with his mouth, on the sit, at the spot.

My lips was pressed. I don’t speak often. Although I was still at the place, but my mind was in another realm, I was brooding already. Thinking of how the good devil had used football in disguise to steal people’s destinies. By drawing their hearts away from Christ. Not only with football but including movies and other 21st century idols in disguise. The devil is crafty indeed.

However, after the first half of the game, I couldn’t watch anymore, I stood, I must not missed my prayer time.

Spiritual irresponsibility is the authentic root of the problems many are facing today. Discipline is the key word here. It is not how comfortable it is but it is given what it demands.

I’m a lover of the game but not at the expense of God’s interests. Football is not bad, music, movies, entertainments, all those things are not bad, but they can steal our time until we are conscious of it. And if they are stealing our time, that means they are stealing our destiny. However, our passion for them must be controlled.
