The Power of Wisdom

the power of wisdom

There are differences among knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. Knowledge is information. Understanding is comprehension, and wisdom is application. It is possible to be knowledgeable about something, to comprehend it, and not apply it. You can be a professor of a particular subject matter. You are a professor of information. Many of us agree with the word of God, but we agree with our heads (mental assent) and not with our hearts.

What is wisdom?

Wisdom is to know the right thing to do from the word of God and to do it. It is to know the right place to go and to go there. It is applied knowledge.

Foolishness has no respect for age, position, or title. You can be a professor of academics and still be a fool. That explains why a supposed respected professor would sleep with a student who is the same age as his daughter. You see, wisdom has nothing to do with intellect. It can only be gotten from God through the application of His word.

Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock. – Matthew 7:24

The wisdom of God is the principal thing (Prov. 4:7). We cannot be successful in any area of life without walking in the wisdom of God. The wisdom of God is the principles of life. I don’t care who you are; you can never succeed in life without principles. Walking in biblical principles is the only guarantee to triumphant living. For instance, the principle of marriage in Ephesians chapter 5 will save any marriage from divorce, as no marriage will ever work if the husband does not love the wife and the wife does not submit to the husband.

Why do we need wisdom?

We need wisdom because wisdom is the stability of our time (Isaiah 33:8). In this era of uncertainties, only those who are wise will be able to escape the effects of the hard times. There could be a global meltdown, an economic crisis, inflation, and unemployment. Only the wise will survive. As believers, we are meant to operate in the kingdom economy where the holocaust cannot reach via the application of kingdom principles.

We need wisdom because it is profitable to direct. Wisdom is an all-time requirement for leading. Every leader needs wisdom to be successful in carrying out the assignment of leadership. The husband needs God’s wisdom to successfully run his family affairs. The government needs God’s wisdom to lead a nation. Pastors need God’s wisdom to manage their congregation’s affairs. Wisdom reduces wasted energy, time, and efforts employed to get things done.

How can we get wisdom?

By placing a demand for it on the prayer altar. We get divine wisdom by asking. King Solomon went to Gibeon to offer sacrifice to the Lord, and the Lord appeared to him and said to him, “Ask me whatever you desire,” Solomon asked for wisdom, and the Lord gave him not only wisdom but also riches and honors (see 1 King.3). In James chapter 1 verses 5–6,

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him; but let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.” “He that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed.”

By committing to reading the Bible, books, and listening to tapes of anointed men of God, We can get wisdom by committing ourselves to studies. The Bible should not be read like a newspaper; we should have our pen and notebook beside us, noting the facts that speak to our issues and concerns.

The books that we buy should contain materials that topically address our most pressing life concerns. If our most pressing need is freedom from financial hardship, we can busy ourselves with materials that address the issue.

Pro tip: engage in prayer and fasting while you are in the adventure of studying; light will dawn from heaven and show you the way out of your challenge.

Paul told his ministry son, Timothy, to study to show himself approved (2 Timothy 2:15). Until your light gains divine approval, you may never get out of your present challenges. It was Jesus’ custom to read during His earthly ministry, and Daniel understood by book (see Luke 4:16; Daniel 9:2). You see, you have no excuse not to commit yourself to extensive studies. Study the Bible because it is a solution book. It offers all-purpose solutions to all problems in life.

Final Thoughts

Wisdom is applied knowledge. It is knowing the right thing to do from the word of God and doing it. We need wisdom because:

  • It’s the stability of our time.
  • It’s profitable to direct.
  • It’s the principal thing.

How can we get wisdom? We can get wisdom by:

  • Asking from God.
  • Through a commitment to studying the word of God.

If you want to know if people are wise or not, listen to their words. When Jesus was speaking to the elites in Luke 2:41-52, they could recognize wisdom from His speech. Watch out for the fools and look out for the wise.

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” – Proverbs 13:20

Value for Power

The quest for power should be one of the goals of the believer. A powerless Christian is vulnerable to the attack of the enemy which may come in form of sickness, disease, enchantment, poverty, and all manner of satanic oppression. Affliction shall not rise again. Go for power.

The sense of the value of power will save you from much trouble in life. The entire world lies in wickedness. We live in a negative pole of wickedness (the magnetic field of wickedness). Aye wa (there is life).

And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. (1 John.5:19).

There is a principality in every locality.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12).

The Powerhouse

A prayer house is a powerhouse. You can get power by maintaining a consistent prayer life. Fainting in prayer implies failing in life. We get charged on the altar of prayer. Your phone battery, for instance, when is not charged, its power runs down and dies. In the same vein, we charged ourselves by plugging into the frequency of prayer. There are so many Christians walking, but spiritually dead. Charged people change their generation. Until you are charged you cannot become an agent of change.

Believe

The word of God says, and these sign shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:1718). You have power. What are doing with it? Are you using it or crying with it when a crisis comes? It’s time to start using it.

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, ALL things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark.9:23).

All things excluding nothing are possible if you believe. Belief is so powerful that it could shape the outcome of your life. Write this down, what you choose to believe is who becomes of you. As a man thinks in his heart so he is (Proverbs.23:7).

Believe is a must-have to use the power that God gave you. The scripture does not say that there won’t be trials (trials are tests of faith) and that you will overcome by crying but by faith. As a matter of fact, trials are not caused by sin, they are caused by faith. Job was also trialed, but not until he began to say something positive about God, his trials remained there.

It’s scriptural to be challenged; it’s unscruptural to be defeated—Oyedepo

The scriptures, without faith it’s impossible to please God (Hebrews.11:6).

However, speaking to the mountains (sickness, failure, poverty; and all problems) of your life is the key to a triumphant life. Not to cry nor push but speaks to the mountains and tell them where to go (the sea). If you cast out your mountain without describing where it should go, it could still stay in your backyard and when you wake up in the morning, the mountain is still there.

Don’t pampered mountains; react violently against them. Remember violent faith will always secure divine attention. Be violent. People sink with little faith (see Mathew.14:2233).

Prayer & Fasting

Power doesn’t just jump on people, people crave it. And prayer and fasting is the platform for power. Jesus was like any other person in the land before His quest to the wilderness to pray and fast for forty days and nights. But upon His return, He returned with power. Now, people began to exclaim, what manner of man is this? We have seen strange things today! Even the wind obeyed Him! We have never seen this in this fashion! See Luke 4. Even demons cried out His name and left their victims. Get empowered by maintaining consistent prayer and fasting as a lifestyle. All your question marks shall turn to exclamations!

Forms of Power

Understand this there are different forms of power.

  • Authoritarian power
  • Magical power
  • Diabolical power

There is an authoritarian power (government, parents, teachers, and guardians possess this power). We also have magical power. We saw this demonstrated in the Bible in a contest between Aaron, Moses, and Pharoah Magicians. Moses’ rod turned to the serpent, and the magician’s rods also turned to the serpent but the serpent of Moses swallowed all the serpents of the magicians, proving the supremacy of God. Also a contest between Elijah and the God of Baals. The fire was the yardstick of measurement. The God that answers by fire is the real God.

Do not be deceived by miracles. Not all miracles are from God. Miracles must be tested by the acid test of the word of God. Any miracle that does not leave you with responsibility is questionable. Lastly, there is diabolical or demonic power. This has to do with the power of witchcraft, wizard, occultist, fortune teller, marabout, and those who read horoscopes all belong to this category.

The power of God is supreme to all forms of power. It’s ignorance for a believer to say they saw demons chasing them in dreams. What? Can a demon chase a fire? On a contrary, fire chases demons. Our God is a consuming fire (Hebrews.12:29). And you are God.

You Are Gods

Not a heresy because you are created in His Image and created to function like Him. I know many people are offended by the fact that they are gods. I have received so many criticisms from this platform about this simple truth. Why do we argue against what we should have accepted as the truth and allow it to work for our lives.? You are a god and I will prove it to you. Not accepting this truth would make you be subjected to what should have been subjected to you because you are ignorant.

In Genesis, when God wanted to create man, He said let us create man in our image (after our likeness). Also, note that God created other animals after their kind but He created us after His kind. In the genealogy of Luke chapter 3, Adam was mentioned as the son of God. The Psalmist says you are god.

If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken. (John.10:35).

Meaning that the word of God can make us operate like God. Why can’t we accept the scripture the way it is? This is why I love children they don’t argue like adults. I have been operating on a wavelength with God since understood this truth. It’s time to embrace the truth about your son-tie relationship with God. Manifest your sonship by operating in the class of God.

You Are Far Above

The word of God says He that comes from above is above all (John 3:31). The power of God comes from above; the power of darkness comes from beneath. You are from above (you are a god), and the devil and his host of demons are from beneath. You are above them all. Ephesians.1:21 says,

Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named , not only in this world, but also in that which to come.

Discovering that you are a god can be the greatest discovery you could ever make about yourself and that you are far above, could make you start looking for demons. You are the next satanic tormentor.
