As we all know that we are in the season of prayer and fasting. Knowing the right approach to it will help us to maximize the rewards of our engagement. In this post, I will be sharing with us the profitable approach to prayer and fasting. I pray that as you wait upon the Lord, you will never be eluded from your rewards in Jesus’ name.
What are the profitable approaches to prayer and fasting?
1). Come with thanksgiving – God hates Murmurers. The Bible says, “do all things without murmuring and disputing “(Phil. 2:14.) Murmurers are programmed for destruction. Complain will complicate your matter. When people murmured in the wilderness, they were all destroyed by the destroyer.
2). Come with Prayers – fasting without prayer is a punishment. Prayer is the value offered in fasting. It’s the prayer that God answers in the fast. Fasting means fastening your body to edify your spirit. Fasting facilitates answered prayer. Certain mountains will not give way until you enter into prayer and fasting.
Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. (Mat.17:21).
3). Come with specific expectations – the blind Bartimaeus was shouting for mercy. “Jesus, have mercy on me!” Hear what Jesus told him: And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight(Mark.10:51).
That was how his sights popped open.
Go straight to the point, that is what Jesus says. If you want a baby, which gender do you want? male or female? What type of wife, job, or career are you believing God for? Try to be specific in your approach because God doesn’t make assumptions.
Sadly, many Christians come to God with no or vague expectations. Be specific. Don’t limit God in your expectations. Because our God is bigger than all our expectations.
For surely there is an end, and thine expectation shall not be cut off. (Prov.23:18)
Your limited destiny is unlimited in scope. Jesus said, the works that He did, greater works you will do (John.14:12).
I believe that every new generation is an improvement on the previous ones. You’re a failure if you’re not successful as your parents. Greater than Solomon is here, Jesus was greater than Solomon and you are expected to be greater than Jesus. Move out of the box. Move with the cloud, everybody is moving.
4). Come with faith – Every provision in God’s kingdom requires a scriptural mate to deliver. For instance, when God created humans, He created them as male and female. When He told Noah to take the animals into the ark, He told him to take them as male and female.
You see, the word says, pray and believe and you will have your heart desires (Mark.11:24). When you pray alone and don’t believe, the result is not in view.
Therefore, as you are waiting on God in this fasting season, put your faith in line and you will see the results.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6).
5). Position yourself to hear from God – The sad thing is that many Christians don’t believe that they can hear from God. Solid faith comes from hearing directly from God. You can’t hear from God and doubt Him. The secret behind the faith of Abraham is that he heard directly. All over the scripture, you’ll see, “and God says”
We were all taught that faith comes from hearing the word of God. This is true. But faith comes more alive by hearing directly from God.
Some of the benefits you should expect in the course of this prayer and fasting season are as follow:
(1). Higher dimension of power – expect the release of power over all demonic powers. When Jesus fasted for forty days and nights, he returned with power, and demons cried out His name and left their victims. He laid hands upon the sick and they were healed. The same order of power is expected of you.
(2). Divine surprise – expect God to make you a living wonder. When Jesus returned from the wilderness, people began to exclaim, “what manner of man is this!” “We have seen strange things today!” ” even the wind obeys him!”
(3). Divine light – Is.58 is a loaded scripture as far as the benefits of prayer and fasting are concerned. In (vs10),
And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday.
Manifestation is a function of revelation. The cheapest way to make things happen is to have access to supernatural insights. It’s not you that makes things happen; it’s the level of your access to the supernatural revelation that makes things come to be.
(3). Divine Speed – Your journey is faster when there is light. Darkness means stagnation and confusion. Anytime you pray and fast, it’s either you are walking, running, or flying.
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Is.40:31).
(4). Divine Strength – Strength indicates long life, and strength is needed for exploits.
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits (Dan.11:32).
Exploits are what eyes have not seen, nor ears heard before. It’s breaking limits by breaking old records and setting new ones. Appearing in church engenders strength. This is a divine secret.
They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. (Psalm 84:7)
(5). Supernatural Restoration – I don’t know what the devil has stolen from you, God will restore them to you. Which situation can be as hopeless as the case of Ezekiel.37, if God could jack the dried bones in the valley back to life and restore the lost axe in the deep of the river, your seemingly impossible situation isn’t too late to be restored. Your health can be restored. Your wayward son, marriage, business, and education will be fully restored
And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. (Is.58:12).
