Beware of false teachings. Some preachers are speakers. Not all preachers are called, many are there looking for means of livelihood. Some wouldn’t even make altar calls.
There’s this thing about Grace flying around among many preachers which is being used to promotes a sinful lifestyle and neglect responsibility. We’re saved by grace but we’re ‘overcomers’ by taking responsibility.
The following are some areas where we’re obligated to be responsible:
Salvation is a free gift and a choice. A choice between life and death; freedom and shackles; health and sickness; prosperity and poverty; and so on. Jesus won’t choose for you, it’s your responsibility to make choices.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: (Deuteronomy 30:19)
This is what distinguishes between a winning and a loosing Christian. Faith without work (responsibility) is actually dead (James.2:20).
Faith without responsibility is impotent, dormant, and actually dead. Faith is a moving force. Or, a doing force. It’s acting inline with what you believe. It’s not waiting, neither a cheap talk but an hard work.
Faith isn’t fate. Fate is accepting what will happen. Those who don’t have faith accept fate.
The major element of faith is hope. We keep our hope alive by doing what we’re instructed to do from the scripture and believing God for rewards.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb.11:1)
Expectation is another vital element of faith. Fate expects nothing but doom and misfortune. It settles for the less but faith expects a radical change, it doesn’t wait for the good things to happen; it works out the good thing by being responsible and putting God’s word to work.
The scripture says, work out your own salvation (Phil.2:12), meaning that, work out your own change of level. You can’t change class until you write and pass the required test. Nobody can write the test for you (even when you sick the test is waiting for you right there when you recovered).
For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off (Prov.23:18).
You’re not righteous by chance, you become righteous by choice. The death of Jesus on the cross has given you the power and dominion over sin. A sin you don’t grant permission cannot be committed. We’re not sinless by just grace but by taking responsibility. Let’s stop hiding behind grace to do things that are contrary to the word of God. Leveraging on grace is a risk.
The scripture says, and everyman that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure (1.John.3:3).
If a man therefore purgeth himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work (2. Tim.2:21).
“It doesn’t matter, grace has cover it all.” That’s why many of us do not matter to God. If people know the consequences of what they’re doing, they won’t be doing them. Your destiny is too precious than to sell it just because one minute enjoyment. Daniel would rather die than to sell off his birth right by defiling himself with portion of the king’s meat and became great. Your journey to greatness begins with righteousness.
Knowledge multiplies grace. Grace multiplies status. As your knowledge of the word of God expands, your grace for exploits expands and as your grace expands, your status changes. It’s your responsibility to go after strong knowledge for a greater height in life.
In conclusion, in this post I have mentioned that:
- The subject shouldn’t be taught out of context.
- And people should beware of false teachings about grace (leveraging on grace to commit sin is a risk).
- Salvation is a free gift but also a choice.
- Faith requires works to find expression.
- Righteousness is also a choice. We cannot commit a sin without our permission being granted. And we’re responsible to purify ourselves.
- Knowledge multiplies grace and grace multiplies status.
