UNDERSTANDING STEWARDSHIP

Stewardship means granting a trust to someone for profitable use.

Luke 12:42-48 KJV
And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? [43] Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. [44] Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. [45] But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; [46] The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him , and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. [47] And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself , neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes . [48] But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes . For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”

1. Stewardship is a gift to invest (Mat. 25:13-15). If we read these verses, we will understand what our heavenly father makes.

PS.24:1. The earth is the lord and the fullness thereof, the world and they that dwell therein. Therefore, all of us are His creatures.

He was sent to us for our salvation. Jesus said in Jn.9:41, I must work the works of Him that sent me while it’s a day the night cometh when no man can work.

He also want us to perform like Him (Jn.15:16 & Jn 13:16-17). “You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit should remain that whatsoever ye shall ask of the father in my name, He may give it to you (KJV). ” SO, we have responsibility which has been given by God.

2. Giving for a purpose –

Luke 16:1-9 KJV
And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. [2] And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. [3] Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. [4] I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. [5] So he called every one of his lord’s debtors unto him , and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? [6] And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. [7] Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. [8] And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. [9] And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. My reader, this is the problem we have in churches and the whole world. Stewardship is given for a purpose but we are not using it for God’s purpose.

When we read Acts of Apostle 4:32 _ And the multitudes of them that believe were of one heart of one soul, neither said any of them that ought of the things which He possessed was his own but they had all things in common. Churches have diverted from the laid down principles of Apostles and command of Jesus Christ.

In the world today, people are not fearing God who is the General overseer of every man’s deed. Stealing, corruption, etc have deepened down into the system even including the so called Children of God.

Remember, in the book of Rev 22:11-12, he that is unjust let him be unjust still and he which is filthy let him be filthy still, that is righteous let him be righteous still and he that is holy let him be holy still. 12, And behold I come quickly and my reward is with me to give everyman according to his works shall be.

3. Benefit of giving life style – It’s a style of living that reflect the attitude and values of a person or group. In the book of Dan.6:4-5 Then the president and prince sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom but they could find none occasions nor fault forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. If you as a christian can do like Daniel then your heaven is certain (Mat.25:31-34). Read and see the reward of a good steward. God will blessed you as you put it into practice.

Trusting God 2

Trusting God in Godly living

We make our marks in life by trusting God. God specializes at lifting and building men but our trust in His ability to perform His promises is a prerequisite.

When faith graduated into trust every element of doubt is destroyed. Many of us want the blessings of Abraham but have the faith of Thomas. Life cannot be sweet than the level of our faith.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. [6] But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. [7] For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. [8] A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” -JMS.1:5-8

What is trust?

Trust is a deep-seated conviction – this implies that you are not daunted by the situations or happenings around you, this means that  you’re listening to what the WORD is saying irrespective of what the WORLD is saying

 Some Biblical Instances of Trust

By trust, Abraham became the father of nations. Immortality swallowed up mortality in Abraham as he was ever ready to sacrifice his only long awaited son. He trusted God in His ability to deliver.

“And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together. [7] And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? [8] And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. [9] And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. [10] And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. [11] And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. [12] And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. [13] And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.” – Gen.22:6-13

By trust, the three Hebrew boys were rescued. These boys said “O NEBUCHADNEZZAR – no title was involved – we are not careful to answer you in this matter.”  And God saw the dogged determination in them that they will not bow for the king’s golden image and His heart beat was like “I must rescue my children”. He delivered!

“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. [17] If it be so , our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. [18] But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” – Dan.3:16-18

What are the proofs of trust?

1). Godliness – your trust stops where your Godly living ends. The fear of God is the capital proof your trust in God.

“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; [16] Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” – 1 Peter. 1:15-16

Godliness is the covenant key to greatness

“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” – Dan.1:8
“Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.” – Dan.2:46

Choose to be different. Your choice overrun sin. We are who we are and what we are by our choices. The aces are in our hands.

By choice, Daniel reigned. By choice, Joseph ruled.

It’s never too late to turn. Things start turning the day you turn.

2). Obedience – Faith is an element of trust. Trust and faith are inseparable. While faith requires work to works. Faith without work is dead. That is, faith without you taking responsibilities lacks its potency.

“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. [18] Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.” – JMS.2:17-18
“But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” – JMS.2:20

Stop waiting, you’ve waited long enough. Enough is enough! It’s high time to act. Enter into the word of God by demonstrating its injunctions. It works! It works like fire!!

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. [23] For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: [24] For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. [25] But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein , he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” JMS.1:22-25

Wait a minute about this, unrepentant, undying and tireless obedience are the hallmarks of a winning believer. Obedience is the cardinal proof of trust.

Get this straight : put God first ( not yourself, not your spouse). Laziness is a satanic instrument. Subscribe into the obedience and all round flow of blessings will overtake you and your life will be become like a dream world.

“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: [2] And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. [3] Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.” Deu.28:1-3

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matt.6:33
“When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.” – psm.126:1

In conclusion, it’s wisdom to make a U-turn when you’re heading to a road that leading to the wrong way. Live ready today; it might be too late to get ready. May open the eyes of your understanding.

May God open the eyes of your understanding to know how to trust him to the point of receiving rewards and blessings.

Trusting God in Godly living

WHAT ARE THE PROOFS OF TRUST?

(i). Godliness – Your trust in God ends where your Godly living stops. The fear of God is the capital proof of our trust in God.

“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; [16] Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” – 1Pet.1:15-16

Godliness is the key to greatness

“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” – Dan.1:8
“Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.” – Dan.2:46

study the above two scripture very well. Your tomorrow is determined by your Godly living today.

(ii). Obedience – Faith is an element of trust. Trust and faith are inseparable. While faith requires work to works. Faith without work is dead. That is, faith without taking responsibilities is dead.

Stop waiting, you’ve waited for long. Enough is enough. It’s high time you act. Take practical and demonstrative steps pertaining scriptural injunctions. That’s how faith works! It doesn’t works in theory.

Discouraged, but not alone

Discouraged but not alone

Discouraged means to make someone feel less confident, enthusiastic, and positive about something, or less willing to do something

Many believers are giving up on God because many are serving God based on contract and not in truth and in deed.

Don’t question God question yourself; don’t blame God blame yourself. God has integrity. Everyone is responsible for the outcome of his/her life.

Numbers 23:19 KJV
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it ? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

*Reasons not to be discouraged*

(1). God is always at present – Many are sincere but only few are sensitive.

The lack of the consciousness of God’s presence is the major cause of discouragement.

Many are victims of ignorance more than anything else.

Matthew 28:20 KJV
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Gehazi was almost paralyzed with fear when the Syrian army came to arrest Elisha. But when his eyes popped open He could see the angels of God that encamped them, he was at rest.

Seeing into the realm of the spirit will always confer rest in the life of a believer.

(2). The future is great – that ugly situation is not going to remain like that forever. There is always a light at the end of a tunnel.

There is no weeping that is permitted to go beyond a night. Where you are is smaller than where God is taking you to.

Psalm 30:5 KJV
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Habakkuk 2:3 KJV
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

(3). Complains and worries will never move God – understand this truth, God is only moved by our faith.

Hannah was fretted and worried. Until she put a seal on her request, went home rejoicing her desire was not in view.

God hates Murmurers and grumblers. These category of people are programmed for destruction.

1 Corinthians 10:10 KJV
Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

Philippians 2:14 KJV
Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

Murmurings will further mess up your situations while complains will further complicate your matters.

(4). Continuity is the golden rule – Continuous, tireless and unrepentant obedience are the hallmarks of a true believer.

James 1:25 KJV
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein , he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Both in dry and raining seasons you must continue in your covenant walk with God. You must remain committed to His instructions. That’s the way it works. It works like fire!

Your tomorrow is determined by the level of your obedience today. (Phil.2:7-10)

Habakkuk 3:17-18 KJV
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: [18] Yet I will rejoice in the Lord , I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Finally, God is not a taskmaster, He is a paymaster. God does not use people; He blesses people.

Psalm 126:5-6 KJV
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. [6] He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him .

Marriage is honourable

Marriage is honourable

Psalm 68:6 KJV
God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land .

God is the ‘setter’ of solitary in the family. If you’re

genuine sons and daughters of God; that means your marital destiny isn’t far from  being blissful. Marriage is honourable; It’s a good thing. The word of God says, He that findeth a wife find a good thing; two are better than one, it isn’t good for a man to be alone. A tension free (hitch free) marriage answers to God’s favour.

Proverbs 18:22 KJV
Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing , and obtaineth favour of the Lord .

Genesis 2:18 KJV
And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Remember, you’re what you think; if you think that marriage is a relationship between cat and rat (as a bachelor) that is how it’s going to be when you’re married.

Proverbs 23:7 KJV
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

If Jesus Christ could manage His relationship with the twelve disciples without a fight; I don’t see any reason why a marriage of a believer  should be filled with incessant arguments and fighting. If I don’t fight as a bachelor; marriage should be able to take me far away from it.

Most good things are not beautiful most beautiful things are

Life is a choice; a marriage without Christ will be full of crises. Choose wisely today! Never choose to marry a  guy or a lady just because of his or her beauty. Beauty without wisdom is destruction. Be wise!!

In our culture, many men who are controlled by their parents; whatever their mother says is the final: This has been the reason why many marriages are unsettled today. He is an adult; but he can’t make decision of his own because he lacks authority over the issues of life.

Listen to me: If you choose not to abide in Christ today; you will be gathered by people like firewood and casted into the fire for destruction (you will be mishandled by fellows humans).

John 15:5-6 KJV
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. [6] If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Finally, secured you marriage in Christ; God’s principles are the best. Let the word of God be the yardstick of measurement. By so doing, your marriage will be free from any form  pressure and attack.

The fear of God

The fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom

From the scripture, we were told that the fear of God is the point where wisdom starts from.

Proverbs 1:7 KJV
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

This word hit me like a thunderbolt. “Servitude is a product of foolishness.” They don’t make  fools  kings (only the wise are made kings). Wisdom is to know the right to do and do it.

Isaiah 33:6 KJV
And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure.

Wisdom is the stability this time that we are now(if you lack wisdom in this era, you will crumble to the floor). It’s my prayer that you won’t sink in life.

Hear this: Christianity without demarcation will not stand the test of time. You can’t beat them by joining them – you will remain under them. The day of judgement is coming when the sheep will be separated from the goats.

Malachi 3:16-18 KJV
Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it , and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord , and that thought upon his name. [17] And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. [18] Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

My dear readers, please be different. Choose to be different. Things that will impress you won’t expand you, things that will expand you won’t impress you. God doesn’t speak to impress people, He speaks to expand people.

You can't beat them by joining them, you will remain under them

Wait a minute, God saw this dogged determination in this three Hebrew boys that they wouldn’t bow down for any thin god expect the greatest God that they had known and God heartbeat was like “I must rescue my children today.” Did you know what happened? He delivered them.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. [17] If it be so , our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. [18] But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Listen to me: because others are doing it doesn’t mean that you should be doing it. The fear of God is your bail out in this generation.  Joseph flee fornication and he became a prime minister. Daniel was faultless and remained relevant during His time. Get this straight: you can’t fear God and be useless.

Since the days of the Patriarchal until now, those who have  reigned in life are those who fear God  (Men that carry heart for Christ). Hates whatever God hates; disapproves whatever God disapproves. This is the secret of rest.

It’s a restless world, it’s the jet set age. Whether consciously and unconsciously even believers are caught up in the web. Only those who will abide in Jesus by obeying His commandments will be at peace.

The fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom (very correct).

The right words

How forcible are right words

How forcible are right words but what does your arguing reprove?” Job.6:25

In this kingdom, there is no room for arguments. There is no room for disputing. Someone may ask How do I approach God? Approach God without complains. God hates fault finders. God hates grumblers.

“Neither  murmur ye  as some of  them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.” 1.Cor.10:10

Approach God with obedience. In most cases what God will tell you to do might look too simple or stupid. Even if it seems too simple or stupid, do it.

“And His mother said unto the servant whatsoever He saith unto you, do it.” Jn.2:5

When they needed wine, He told them to bring water, He used the launch of a lad to feed multitudes.

“There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes, but what are they among many.” Jn.6:9

Obedience is the master key to all the blessings of God.

Take Peter as a case study, Peter struggled with his business all the night and achieved no result. Until Peter obeyed God’s instruction, Peter’s net breaking harvest was not in view.

“And Simon answering said unto Him, master; we have toiled all the night and have taken nothing……And when they had this done(obedience), they in closed a great multitudes of fishes; and their net break.” (Lk.5:5-6)

Approach God with thanksgiving. Come to the presence of God with praises on your lips.  Be happy. If you are not joyful you will be fretful. Approach God with fasting and prayer. Fasting is not an advice neither an admonition. Fasting is a commandment.

When ye fast” Mat.6:9.

There are some mountains that would not be made plain until you fast.

“Howbeith this kind goeth not but by prayer and fasting.” Mat.17:31

Don’t ever come to God with murmurings. Those who murmured in the wilderness were all consumed by the wicked. Murmurers are programmed for destruction.

“Do all things without murmurings and disputing.” Phi.2:14.

“Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.” 1.Cor.10:10

Approach God with faith. Faith is our purchasing power in the miraculous market. Life cannot be beautiful more than your faith’s level.

The elements of faith demands that you must cast down all mind debris, idiosyncrasies and negative and cultural  orientation. They are by-products of the wicked. It requires that you speak inline with what you believe with bold declaration. For instance, “I can never be poor” “I can never be sicked” etc.

Hmmm! Right words are right words. When God was making the covenant of greatness with Abraham, He did not expect him to actually see all his seeds(children) with his naked eyes, God must be speaking of another kind of eyes, the imaginative faculty. If you can see it you can have it. A future that you can’t picture don’t expect to be featured in it. Whatever that you can see(picture) from Genesis to Revelation can be yours. Your mind can either break you or make you. Picture the positive and speaks the positive. You are what you say.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Prov.18:21.

You are what you think.

“As he thinketh in his heart, so he is.” Prov.23:7

Once upon a time, there was an ugly situation on the earth. Darkness reigned that God needed a change of situation. What was God’s approach? He called out light. Light emitted darkness. Light swallowed up darkness. It dispelled the dark area of the planet.  If God could use this approach to turn the negative tide around, then you and I have no choice than follow the same step.

“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep…..and God said, let there by light: and there was light.” Gen.1:3-4

Everybody gets what they see. Life answers to seeing. You can’t see hunger today and wake to see a life of abundance. This is divine setting. God cannot break this principle because of you.

“For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever.” Gen.13:15

Right words are right words. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Never waste your time with an argumentator.
