Anger breeds conflicts, fights and wars; creates an atmosphere of confusion and causes devastation.
What does the scripture says about anger?
Anger is a function of foolishness. When a wise man speaks, you will quickly identify by his word. Take for instance, Jesus was sitting among the elites teaching them in wisdom and they were all amazed. His wisdom could be easily perceived by His word.
Ecclesiastes 7:9 KJV
Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.
A word can heal a wound or tear down a fellow. Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Prov.18:21).
Anger is a sin – James 1:19-20 KJV
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: [20] For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Sin ruptured the link between men and God – the destiny of men became fractured because of sin. As life is a choice, as Godliness is a choice, anger is a choice more than anything. Your agreement to a sinful act is required before its full manifestation. Anger can erodes our dignity in Christ. Daniel made a choice and he ruled with kings and same thing happened to Joseph.
A powerful force behind anger is the spirit of disobedience and to conquer the spirit of disobedience the spirit of obedience is required. One of the spirits is from above while the other came from beneath. He that is above is above all (Jn.3:31).
Ephesians 2:2 KJV
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Ezekiel 36:27 KJV
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them .
Sin instills fear while righteousness establishes confidence and boldness. Adam sinned and his first uttered statement was “I am afraid”. Many believers are ruled by fear today due to unrighteousness and disobedience.
Proverbs 28:1 KJV
The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
